Embr

Terms of Service

Last updated October 24, 2026

These terms cover your use of Embr, a private space for two or more partners in a Camp Fire. By using the app you agree to them.

Pending before publication

  • Registered legal entity name and business mailing address (currently identified as Embr, York, Pennsylvania).
  • Governing law and venue language, to be affirmed by counsel.
  • Designated safety contact and the process for legal requests.
  • Review of the platform terms that apply to this app and how they treat encrypted user content.

Who may use Embr

You must be 18 or older to use Embr. The app is for adults in a consensual relationship, sharing a Camp Fire by invitation only.

Your Camp Fire and credentials

The person who creates a Camp Fire sets an invite code and a separate invite password. The code is sent through the app; the password must be shared outside it. Both are needed to join.

  • You are responsible for who you invite and for sharing the password only with that person.
  • Do not post invite codes or passwords publicly. If a code or password reaches the wrong person, remove that member from the Camp Fire and create a new one.
  • Only the people listed in a Camp Fire may read its content.

Consent and acceptable use

  • Share only what you have the right to share, and only with people who have agreed to receive it.
  • Never upload or send sexual content involving minors, content shared without consent, threats, harassment, or content that violates someone's privacy.
  • Do not attempt to break, probe or bypass the app's encryption, access controls or rate limits.

We may remove content, restrict accounts or end access where these rules are broken or where the law requires it.

Encrypted communications and user reporting

Embr's end-to-end encryption is intended to protect message content from access by parties who do not possess the necessary cryptographic keys. It does not prevent a recipient from capturing content outside Embr, and it does not guarantee that every item of account information or message metadata is encrypted end to end.

If you report abuse or request removal of intimate content, you may be asked to identify the relevant content or voluntarily submit a copy for review. Embr may take action on reported content, restrict accounts, or preserve limited information where required or permitted by law.

You remain responsible for respecting the privacy, consent and legal rights of others when creating, sending, receiving or capturing content.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you send. You grant Embr only the limited permission needed to store, transmit and deliver your encrypted content and to operate the service. Because message content is encrypted on your device, we cannot read it and do not use it to train models.

Paid features

Some features require a paid subscription for the Camp Fire. Pricing, billing period and cancellation terms are shown at checkout before you pay, and the subscription page lets you manage or cancel it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Deleting your account ends your access and removes your key material from the service. Because your private key lives only on your device, messages you previously sent that other members already hold cannot be recalled from their devices.

Disclaimers and limits

Embr is provided as is. It is not a crisis service, a counselling service or legal advice. Where the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the app, from content shared inside a Camp Fire, or from copies of content made outside the app.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will show the new version here with its date. Questions go through the in-app report flow until a dedicated contact is published. See also the Privacy Policy.
